So I wanted to start off this lovely post with a photo of a nice lady using her face sheet mask, but I suppose it's tough to look good with a sheet mask on your face. Face sheet masks are everywhere, everyone is putting one on their faces. Should you get started on it too? You've probably wondered too, is it even necessary for us to use sheet masks?

Korean women have been using their face sheet masks for well over a decade, many Korean actresses have also shared about incorporating face sheet masks into their weekly regime. Some reportedly use face sheet masks up to 3 - 4 times a week. For a familiar and drool-worthy example, Song Joong Ki has shared that he uses a face mask everyday to maintain his good skin. He made me feel like a lazy auntie with bad skin.

You're welcome, ladies.

The biggest pros of using face sheet masks is its ability to deliver the product to your entire face in the most concentrated way. Just as applying toner and essence using a make up cotton pad allows for better absorption, as compared to applying the liquid with your fingers, we can think of the face sheet masks as enlarged cotton pads that is soaked with product goodness. It's the best way to get the product into your skin.

That being said, don't be so quick to throw your creams and serums away, face sheet masks can only work as a supplement, not a replacement for all your products. The various sheet mask goodness can help the skin recover after a grueling day out in the sun, or a moisture-sucking plane ride. However, you're still going to need to be hardworking with your 10 step Korean beauty routine if you want to look like Song Hye Kyo at age 34 (but that's another topic for another blog post).

Ok, so face masks are important, which one should we go for? Not all face masks are made equal, you can get them for as cheap as 500KRW (less than 1SGD) for one, or even up to USD20 for one (Shangpree Gold Premium Modelling Mask). I like to share about the 2 of my favourite cellulose face masks from Dr Jart+.

Dr Jart+ is a line that came about from the collaboration of Dr Jung Sung Jae, a certified dermatologist and his close family friend Mr Lee Jin Wook. The idea behind Dr Jart+ was to bring skincare formulas out of the clinic and into the mainstream, so all women can have access to high standards of skincare products. Dr Jung led a team of 21 demartologists and started this skincare line for all women. Dr Jart+ started in 2004 and never looked back, now it's found in 15 countries, including the USA and Europe.

I found out about Dr Jart+ by chance when I was in Seoul visiting my boyfriend. Winter in Seoul is no joke, it's so cold and harsh that it dries out my skin super quickly. The watery moisture gels that work in Singapore is no match for winter. ): So off to Olive Young I went, in search of face masks to soak my poor wrinkly face in. Alright, truth to be told, being the beauty snob that I am, I bought Dr Jart+ because I loved the simple and professional looking packaging. But I was pleasantly surprised by the Vital Hydra Solution Mask!

The mask isn't made of the usual plant fibre/ cotton material commonly found in most masks. It's made up of fine cellulose fiber which is super lightweight and transparent. The sheet mask is held within 2 netting layers that holds up the mask. So you peel off one side of the netting, place the cellulose sheet mask onto your face (adjust it because it moulds to your face shape!), then peel off the other netting. After 15-20 mins when I peeled off the mask, it was all limpy and dry! My face also looked dewy and all the moisture goodness was absorbed into my face. It didn't leave a sticky or wet feeling after.

The best part about the mask is the generosity of the essence liquid. After using the mask, there was still a ton of essence in the pack. The next morning, I lathered it onto my face with a cotton pad. Then again, around noon, and again before I sleep. It sure felt like i got 4 masks for the price of 1! Since then, I've been sold on Dr Jart+ masks, and I use it on a regular basis, with the range including their wrinkleless, brightening and firming masks. Hopefully you'll like it too!

This is their microfiber sheet mask!

At Modern K Beauty, we bring in products we personally use and have tried, so we can vouch that it works (for me, at least). If you like to try Dr Jart+ sheet masks too, we'll be starting our first pre-order really soon, timed to arrive on the 11th of September. (:

Do you have a product from Dr Jart+ I should be trying out too? Let me know what you think! Till next time~

Loves, Grace
